Jeffrey L. Rotman is an American underwater photographer, author, and ocean conservationist celebrated for his technical mastery in capturing marine wildlife and deep-sea predators. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he developed his diving and photography skills in the waters of the North Atlantic before embarking on a career spanning over four decades across the globe. Renowned for his striking images of sharks and marine ecosystems, Rotman's work has appeared in major publications such as National Geographic, Life, Time, and The New York Times Magazine, as well as in television features including Discovery Channel's Shark Week. His career shifted toward environmental advocacy after witnessing widespread marine destruction, leading him to author numerous books—including Shark!, Underwater Eden: 365 Days, and The Last Fisherman: Witness to the Endangered Oceans—that document both the splendor and fragile state of the world's changing oceans.
