Ken Robbins is an American author, photographer, and former book editor widely celebrated for his non-fiction children's books featuring distinct hand-tinted photography. Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1945, he graduated from Cornell University in 1967 and worked as an editor at Doubleday before transitioning to full-time writing and photo-illustration. Robbins has created over twenty critically acclaimed picture books covering natural phenomena, everyday objects, and transportation, including titles such as Autumn Leaves, Apples, Pumpkins, and Tools—the latter earning him a place on The New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Books list. Characterized by his rich, painterly hand-coloring techniques overlaid on fine black-and-white photographs, his artistic work skillfully bridges documentary realism with visual art to educate and inspire young readers.
