Khalid Bin Hamad Bin Ahmad Al-Thani (b. 1980) is a Qatari fine-art photographer and artist celebrated for his poetic, painterly visual studies of the Qatari desert landscape. Born in Doha, he earned a business degree from Qatar University before turning to professional photography in 2007 with the aim of establishing a distinct and authentic Qatari visual language. Operating primarily with large-format Leica systems and specialized printing techniques—most notably producing elaborate collections of platinum prints—Al-Thani's work focuses on the subtle geometric proportions, atmospheric light, and natural motifs of the desert, such as native Sidra trees, falcons, oryx, and horses. Rejecting conventional documentary representation in favor of emotional tone and texture, his approach involves repeatedly returning to the same subjects across different times of day to capture the lyrical rhythm of the desert environment. His photobooks, published by Steidl, include Here is My Secret (2013), Language without Words (2015), and Malamh, cementing his reputation as a key contemporary photographer in the Middle East.
