Red cloth hardcover, ex-library with no spine label on very good, newly protected dust jacket with wear at one corner, rear flyleaf removed, tape stains on front flyleaf, binding a bit skewed.  The photographer Beaton recalls his experiences in London, Paris, New York, and California, with his many well-known friends and acquaintances such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Pablo Picasso, Jean Cocteau, Gertrude Stein, Winston Churchill, John Jacob Astor, Adele Astaire, Anita Loos, Greta Garbo (who plays a major role in Beaton’s life), Laurence Olivier, et al., illustrated with his photographs and drawings, including six portrait photographs of Garbo.  Born in London in 1904, Sir Cecil Beaton was educated at Harrow and Cambridge.  He began his career as a photographer but also became a writer and artist-designer for ballets, operas, plays and other theatrical productions in which he sometimes appeared as an actor.  He was knighted for his accomplishments.
