Born in Wenzhou, Zhejiang. In 1968, Dang Shan was born into a family of photographers, including his father and grandfather, and became a long-term professor of photography at the College of Arts affiliated with Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics in Hangzhou. He published a monograph, One Man’s West Lake in 2011.
