Wynn Bullock (1902–1975) was a pioneering American modernist photographer celebrated for his profound, metaphysical approach to the natural landscape and human form. Initially pursuing a career as a concert singer in Europe, he discovered a passion for visual art through the avant-garde works of Man Ray and László Moholy-Nagy, prompting him to pivot permanently to photography. After studying at the Los Angeles Art Center School and cultivating a life-changing friendship with Edward Weston, Bullock developed a signature style defined by a deep philosophical inquiry into time, space, light, and nature's mysteries. He achieved international acclaim when curator Edward Steichen selected his iconic images Child in Forest and Let There Be Light for the Museum of Modern Art's legendary The Family of Man exhibition.
