Viking, 1968. A Ridge Press Book. Hardcover, illustrated boards with clear acetate dust jacket with white printing. Book is very good with bump on bottom front edge affecting first few pages. Dust jacket is good with tears near spine tips. 191 pages, profusely illustrated with photos excellently reproduced, with printing by Mondadori, Verona, Italy. An intimate look at the life of the maestro, his work, wife, children, and friends. Bernstein is portrayed as having a close knit, loving family and this book not surprisingly doesn't mention his secret life later discussed by Philip Gefter in What Becomes A Legend Most: A Biography of Richard Avedon and covered in the movie, Maestro. Nevertheless, this book provides fascinating insights into the busy and complex life of one of America's greatest musicians.
