From 1980 to 1989, he taught photography, mostly in the Philadelphia area and at the International Center of Photography in New York. Thomas Carabasi is an American photographer, visual artist, and educator known for his minimalist, introspective approach to landscape and environmental photography. He earned his MFA in Photography from the University of New Mexico, where he developed a distinct style centered on precise framing, subtle tonal control, and the intersection of space and light. Carabasi served for many years as the Department Head of Photography and Digital Imaging at the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, where he mentored generations of emerging artists while actively exhibiting his own work nationally and internationally. Throughout his career, his work has consistently explored themes of transience, architectural geometry, and the quiet poetry of everyday spaces.
